Another year for GIRLS WHO ROCK thanks to the support of our good friends, Internet Week NY, Umojowa, participating partners, sponsors and team. There are simply no words to express how grateful we are to have had the chance to create with you all GIRLS WHO ROCK. For the past two years, you have dedicated, spoken of, partnered with, and attended GWR and made it what it is today. We hope you are proud of what it has become but most importantly of what it has done for girls education.
Meet Isabel Rutherford, a former volunteer who will be giving us an on the ground view of what it was like at Shanti Bhavan. Hailing from the great state of New York, she has spent time in India teaching at our 2012 She’s the First School Beneficiary. (more…)
Preparations for GIRLS WHO ROCK 2012 is in full swing. We are lining up musical acts, and some surprises for you all this year.
Firstly, GIRLS WHO ROCK will be a month earlier this year, that’s right come check us out in NYC on May 18th.
Secondly, we can reveal that one of the artists rocking out live this year at GIRLS WHO ROCK will be Shin-B!! Shin-B is an amazing West Coast-based female MC making waves in the music industry. She has been recognized by MTV, FUSE, Hot 97, and was even interviewed by the Legendary John Norris for Noisevox.
GIRLS WHO ROCK has more in store from Shin-B, keep checking back on the blog for a great interview from the aforementioned MC!
This year we plan on making the concert bigger and better than the previous years. We can’t wait to see all of you in the stands dancing and singing along to the music, all for a good cause!
We wanted to take a moment to thank all of our sponsors, partners, especially Internet Week. Each year, they put together a great week to explore all of the avenues and discourse related to technology, social media, and the start up environment. Be sure to get your tickets to Internet Week when registration opens up on February 1st.
In honor of the Holidays, we wanted to share with you a message of gratitude from Shanti Bhavan Children’s Project Director Ajit George; after all, the holidays are about giving back more than receiving.
