Happy 2nd Birthday She’s the First
Today is She’s the First’s 2nd Birthday, and to commemorate this important day, we at GIRLS WHO ROCK wanted to let our non-profit partner know how much they mean to us, and how they are changing the face of girls’ education in the developing world.
But we are not the only ones who are thankful for all the work She’s the First does for girls’ education. With help from STF staffers (thanks guys!), we wanted to send She’s the First some inspiring messages, because they inspire us to the change the world with them:
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHE’S THE FIRST! To commemorate this milestone I created a Picnik photo
collage that defines what you mean to me. Wishing you a fabulous 2nd year & many more to come! xoxo”—Shelley Tibbetts, GWR Digital Engagement Officer
“Happy 2nd Birthday She’s The First! It’s amazing to know that Manhattan College was one of the *first* colleges to join in and now you’re all over the country! STF has changed so many lives around the globe and I’m honored to be apart of something so great.. YOU ROCK!”—- Ashley Slattery, Founder of She’s The First*{Manhattan}
“Everything that Tammy and Christen do is inspirational. Whether it be on a global scale like the She’s the First initiatives with schools around the world or with local communities like the bake sales that STF does with its college chapters. It shows that no matter how small the act of kindness is, it can cause sweeping change.”—Ashly Priest, GWR Creative Director
“Happy Birthday, She’s the First! I’m so thankful to be part of a group that is so devoted to making an impact on girls’ education. I know that every email we sent, every contact we reach out to, every tweet, every meeting, and every cupcake we bake is a little step to bigger things to come.
—Ale Foresto, She’s the First Ambassador
“Happy Birthday She’s The First!!! We are so proud to be your west coast counterpart.—She’s the First Los Angeles
“Happy 2nd Birthday She’s the First! I’m so proud of everything you’ve accomplished and I know that through STF, the world is becoming a better place. I’m so honored to be able to help STF through GIRLS WHO ROCK, and I wish nothing but the best & plethora of more birthdays to celebrate! Keep changing the world one girl at a time! Love always, Opal”—-Opal Vadhan, GWR Operations and Development
“Happy birthday She’s the First! It’s been an incredible two years and I can’t wait to see what Year 3 brings! With love, Your Tennessee Girl”—-Katie Riley, She’s the First*{Greek Life Liaison}
“Dear Tammy and Christen, You’ve not only changed the lives of several girls throughout the world but you’ve also done it with the rest of your leadership team. I can only speak for myself but I believe the other girls would agree when I say that She’s the First has given us this amazing platform to promote that which we are passionate about and explore the inner depths of ourselves, all while having this amazing support group behind us. It would be hard for me to find a better, more talented group of people than we have here at She’s the First and you two are to thank for it. I love you both with all my heart. P.S: Christen, es la verdad.”—Maisy Page, She’s the First Researcher
“Dear STF, it has been one pretty sweet journey with you since I met you at 3 months old. I adore and admire your always “can do” attitude, playful look at life and of course willingness to “pass it forward” and share with others. Wishing you the very best, remember no matter what I will always support you!’—Cynthia Hellen, Co-Creator of GIRLS WHO ROCK
This is only a small part of the messages and the recognition that She’s the First receives. Each time Elizabeth David will walk to her college classes, she will be thankful for She’s the First. Every time a student at the Arlington Academy of Hope raises their empowered hand in class, the teachers will be thankful for She’s the First. GIRLS WHO ROCK is thankful for all of She’s the First contributions in girls’ education in the developing world. We can’t wait to see what is in store for She’s the First in 2012.
Please let us know what She’s the First means to you in the comments!
