A core group of passionate “Renaissance women” make up the GIRLS WHO ROCK team. With diverse talent and well-rounded lives, they are working countless hours to produce an amazing event which benefits girls’ education, and we’d love for you to get to know them!

This week, meet Lizbeth Lorena,  @Lizbeth_Lorena, GWR Assistant Director, talks about her mentor who worked with her in Atlanta, editing posts for the blog, how hard the staff of           GIRLS WHO ROCK work!

How did you first connect with GIRLS WHO ROCK?

I first connected with GWR through my sister Cynthia. She is a very ambitious woman and began this organization with Tammy the founder of STF and of course, being one of Cynthia’s biggest fan, I decided to come in and help her out with what ever she needed and support her and GWR.

What’s your role on the GIRLS WHO ROCK team?

My role is Assistant Director. I try an oversee most project developments, productions, and day to day creative team operations. Basically everything Cynthia needs an extra help on I’m there.

What’s your day job or professional/academic area of expertise?

I graduated from FDU in Madison NJ, with a Bachelor in Science, concentrating in Biology and minoring in Chemistry & Advertising. So I am a science geek, but I love it! I also love to express my creativity and have done that through Photography & GWR.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far while helping to produce GIRLS WHO ROCK?

I’ve learned how to be a lot more patient! Things will turn out for the best if you believe is what you love and stay focus.

What’s the #1 thing you want people to know about what goes on behind the scenes of GIRLS WHO ROCK?

How much fun we have!! Especially the late nights Cynthia, myself and an unofficial member Manny have had each Sunday. We laugh & joke about some worries we have then get right back to work.

Five favorites of the moment (think fast!):

Female artist: Right now, Lady Gaga

Website/blog/app: Site, Facebook? & GWR!!

Restaurant in NYC: Sushi Samba

Book: Um, any Biology book

Concert you’ve seen in NYC: Aventura, love them!!

What is a memorable story or fact you learned about girls’ education in the developing through She’s the First?

That there are 130 million uneducated children in the world. Sad to hear those numbers are so high!!

Give a shout out to a special teacher or mentor who shaped your own education, so that you can be where you are today in NYC, on this team.

I can say my history or Science teacher have shaped out my Science education but my true mentor whom I’m sure isn’t aware is my sister Cynthia, the founder of GWR. She is inspiring in many ways and loves what she does! She believes in people without even knowing them and is very calm in many situations where I know I would be panicking. She is quite the woman and definitely ROCKS!!

This question will be tied loosely to what you do on a day to day basis within GWR. Below your name is next to the question you will answer.

Fill in the Blank: A GIRL WHO ROCKS is__CONFIDENT____.
